Pre-Wedding Shoot in Traditional Attire at Murasaki-tei – An Authentic Tea House in Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park

Did you know there is a traditional tea house inside Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park?

Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, redeveloped from the former site of EXPO’90 “International Garden and Greenery Exposition,” is a beloved urban park in Osaka. Within its Japanese garden stands Murasaki-tei, a genuine tea house still in active use today.

Tea ceremonies are held here twice a month, making it not only a historic venue but also a living, authentic cultural space.
Let us introduce a private, hideaway-like setting where you can enjoy exclusive pre-wedding photography.

① Stylish “Ryurei-seki” Room

Right at the entrance is the ryurei-seki room, designed for seated tea ceremonies.
This space actually welcomed many international visitors during EXPO’90.

While traditional tea ceremonies are performed sitting formally on tatami, modern influences from Western culture introduced the use of chairs and tables indoors. The ryurei style was born from the desire to let foreigners enjoy tea ceremony more comfortably.

Here, you can take photos with a modern yet traditional touch, distinct from standard tatami rooms.

② In the Tatami Room

The main tatami hall of Murasaki-tei provides a warm atmosphere filled with the charm of natural wood.
Indoor photography means you don’t need to worry about the weather.

Popular “seiza shots” (sitting formally on the tatami) can also be captured here.

③ With Fusuma Paintings

Elegant shots can be taken framed by the fusuma sliding door paintings.
Murasaki-tei suits any attire, giving you freedom to create your desired mood.

The name “Murasaki-tei” comes from a poem by award-winning novelist Yasushi Inoue, who also personally wrote the calligraphy for the tea house’s signboar

④ On the Veranda, Surrounded by Nature

Photography is also possible on the veranda, where natural light and the quiet outdoors create a calm, mature atmosphere.
Unlike indoor settings, the open-air space offers a serene, sophisticated mood.

⑤ In the Adjacent Japanese Garden

Right next to Murasaki-tei is a beautiful Japanese garden, where you can enjoy seasonal scenery and expansive greenery.
A gentle river flows nearby, offering such a tranquil setting you might forget you’re in Osaka at all.
