Resort-style Wedding photography at the Nunobiki Herb Garden in Kobe

Hello everyone! It’s Wedding Avenue here!

Today, we’re excited to introduce the third installment of our new Kobe plan: a photo wedding at the Nunobiki Herb Garden!

Just a short ride on the ropeway from Shin-Kobe Station, about 10 minutes, takes you to the Nunobiki Herb Garden nestled at an altitude of 400 meters. It’s a treasure trove of flowers and herbs, boasting a variety of colors and scents!

When you hear “herb garden,” you might envision a park or botanical garden. While it does have aspects of those facilities, the Nunobiki Herb Garden is more appropriately called a resort destination! With over 200 species and 75,000 plants of flowers and herbs, an observation plaza overlooking Kobe city, a restaurant serving freshly picked herbs, foot baths with herbal fragrances, a concert hall, and a museum of scents, there’s so much to see and do that you can’t possibly cover it all in a day!

Stay tuned as we showcase the amazing photo opportunities available at the Nunobiki Herb Garden. Don’t miss out on the rest of the tour!

Let’s get started!

1.With the cityscape of Kobe in the background! Bold yet beautiful scenery for stunning photography!

At the grassy square, you can overlook the cityscape of Kobe, providing a location where urban life meets nature. It’s a luxurious opportunity for photography, capturing the vibrant and bustling city of Kobe from above while being close to nature.

For those familiar with Kobe’s scenery, it’s a chance to capture bright and lively memories of the city. And for those new to the city, it offers a delightful photography experience with its modern yet serene cityscape, promising new discoveries.

Why not capture natural expressions of you both against the backdrop of Kobe’s stunning scenery?

2.Beyond your sight lies Osaka Bay! The view of Kobe's sea from the herb garden!

The charm of the herb garden extends beyond its facilities and flowers! The cityscape of Kobe from an elevation of 400 meters is breathtaking, beyond words, with a crystal-clear world that would compel anyone to utter “spectacular”!

Those who have seen the view from above would undoubtedly appreciate the unique allure of a herb garden nestled amidst the mountains! A photo wedding amidst such a profoundly romantic setting promises to yield stunning photographs. Since it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event, why not make the scenery exclusively yours, more special than anyone else’s?

3.Amidst the serene scenery, swaying gently in a hammock, enjoying a picnic-like atmosphere!

Throughout the garden, hammocks are strategically placed, inviting a sense of tranquility. The vista from the plaza feels akin to embarking on a thrilling camping or picnic adventure!

At the Wind Hill Lawn Square, adorned with lush greenery, visitors can also admire cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, making it a hidden gem worth discovering! It’s a location where you can find solace amidst Kobe’s stunning panoramas and the beauty of blooming flowers.

Why not consider not only a splendid photo shoot but also a special time to unwind and rejuvenate, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life?

4. Soaring above Kobe's skies on an aerial sightseeing adventure! Capture offbeat shots aboard the ropeway!

Here’s how to get to the Nunobiki Herb Garden: hop on the ropeway departing from Shin-Kobe! Capturing shots while hovering over Kobe’s urban landscape feels incredibly refreshing, doesn’t it?

During the ascent to 400 meters above sea level, there are several picturesque sights to capture! Near the midway station, you’ll encounter the breathtaking Nunobiki Waterfall cascading down the mountainside and Japan’s first concrete dam, the Nunobiki Gohonmatsu Dam, designated as an important cultural property!

As you approach the terminus near the herb garden, you’ll be greeted by vibrant gardens and panoramic views of Kobe’s sprawling cityscape beneath clear skies! Particularly renowned is Kobe’s night view seen from the ropeway, often described as breathtaking and even dubbed a “moving night view” due to its dynamic beauty!

Depending on the season, you might even pass through tunnels of cherry blossoms or trees adorned in autumn hues! It’s an unforgettable experience awaiting you! No matter where you point your camera, you’re sure to capture stunning photos filled with natural beauty.

Be sure to savor the expansive panoramic vistas in all directions!

5. Once you descend from the ropeway... Voila! You'll encounter the eagerly awaited flowers!

Once you descend from the ropeway, you’re immediately greeted by seasonal flowers in full bloom! It’s a surefire way to feel incredibly happy both visually and aromatically! ☆彡

In the background, you’ll find the observation plaza, designed not only for admiring the outdoor scenery but also serving as a convenient spot for a quick rest with its plentiful benches, making it a reliable ally when you’re feeling tired from the shoot!

Inspired by Germany’s ancient castle, the “Wartburg Castle,” this observation plaza is meticulously designed, with its surroundings enclosed by castle gates, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. Its consistently archaic backdrop is perfect for sophisticated and stylish photoshoots! Plus, being in the hometown of the famous father of music, Bach, one can’t help but feel the refined beauty inherited from the medieval German spirit!

During the Christmas season or on holidays, the plaza undergoes a magical transformation with illuminations, turning into a fantastical and mesmerizing sight! The Herb Garden’s varied photo spots, each showcasing different expressions depending on the time of day, add to its unique charm!

6. A solitary towering tree standing amidst the expansive grounds! Capture melancholic photos against this backdrop exuding a sense of wistful nostalgia!

A large tree standing on the vast expanse resembling a ranch! How about capturing majestic photos against the backdrop of Kobe’s sky, which feels close enough to touch, and the powerful yet somewhat lonely tree? The grandeur of such a scene, set against the backdrop of a spacious plaza, exudes a strong impact, conveying the resilience and vitality of life.

7. The main attraction of the herb garden! How about capturing fairytale-like photos surrounded by flowers of various colors and shapes, providing a soothing experience?

Finally, here it is! Let me introduce you to the greatest and most charming aspect of the herb garden—the gardens themselves! With 12 gardens spread throughout the park, this is Japan’s largest herb garden, each garden crafted with unique concepts.

Among the highlights are the brightly colored Welcome Garden, greeting visitors as they step off the ropeway, the Rose Symphony boasting around 60 varieties of roses with different colors and scents, and the Kitchen Garden, offering a charming familiarity akin to a home vegetable garden. These gardens are packed with seasonal charm, providing the perfect backdrop for adorable photo weddings!

Why not experience the tranquil scenery of the Hachibiki Herb Garden, where the refreshing breeze makes you lose track of time?

8. With an abundance of photo spots throughout the garden, capture your special moments at your favorite spots!

The garden is filled with an abundance of photo spots, each more picturesque than the last!

Within the observation plaza I introduced earlier, you’ll find lantern-adorned areas and brick-built structures resembling chapels, providing a plethora of backdrops perfect for photography!

In addition, there’s the “Garden Terrace” where you can enjoy tea time while overlooking Kobe’s sea and mountains, the “Gate of Encounter” themed around meetings, the “Statue of Love” donated from the Valentine’s Day holy site, and the “Promise Bell” rumored to grant wishes. These auspicious photo spots add to the enjoyment of your photo session!

Be sure to explore and capture moments at your favorite spots or places of interest!

9.Not just fresh flowers! Achieve a sophisticated and understated photo shoot with dried flowers, perfect for a platonic atmosphere!

In the observation plaza, you’ll find backgrounds adorned with hanging dried flowers! Unlike fresh blooms, dried flowers have a mature and charming appeal with a touch of sophistication. Symbolizing “eternal love” as they remain unchanged even after withering, dried flowers are often given as wedding gifts.

While herb gardens are often associated with vibrant floral displays, the option for photo shoots against understated and chic backgrounds is a delightful feature!

Capturing the serene and uplifting essence of delicate hues, dried flowers offer a timeless allure that differs from fresh blooms. Why not consider a photo shoot that highlights this enduring charm?

10. In the fresh air, revel in the exhilarating and expansive garden!

Inside the garden, besides flowers and herbs, there are plenty of spots where you can feel the refreshing greenery!

In the floral-scented garden, you can truly experience nature firsthand. The pleasant air within the garden naturally softens expressions, making it perfect for photography.

Among them are areas reminiscent of dense forests, elegant scenes with bridges over gently flowing streams, and exotic landscapes with plants found in tropical regions. The variety of options for photography is a highlight!

With paved pathways at many photo spots, even amateur photographers can feel confident during their shoots.
