Traditional Japanese-Style Photos at “Murasaki-tei”

Did you know there’s a real tea house inside Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park?
Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, redeveloped on the former site of EXPO ’90 “The International Garden and Greenery Exposition,”
houses the beautiful tea house Murasaki-tei next to its traditional Japanese garden.
Even today, authentic tea ceremonies are held at Murasaki-tei about twice a month, maintaining its role as a fully operational tea house.
Let us introduce you to a private, exclusive shoot in this hidden gem-like setting.
① The Stylish Standing Tea Ceremony Room

Right at the entrance, you’ll find the Standing Tea Ceremony Room (Ryuurei-seki).
During the 1990 International Garden and Greenery Exposition, this room welcomed many international guests.
While traditional tea ceremonies are typically performed sitting in seiza (kneeling) on tatami,
influenced by Western culture, seating with chairs and tables has become more common in modern tea rooms.
The standing tea ceremony style was developed to allow foreign guests to enjoy the tea experience more comfortably.
This unique space offers a different atmosphere compared to a traditional tatami room, perfect for stylish photos.
② The Main Tatami Room

Capture authentic pre-wedding shots in the main tatami room of Murasaki-tei.
The natural warmth of the wood creates a soft, inviting ambiance.
Since this shoot is indoors, there’s no need to worry about the weather.
You can also capture the popular “seiza pose” (kneeling pose) here.
③ With the Elegant Fusuma (Sliding Doors)

You can also take stylish shots featuring the beautiful fusuma paintings.
Murasaki-tei’s versatile design complements any outfit, allowing you to create the atmosphere you desire.
The name “Murasaki-tei” was inspired by a poem by renowned novelist Yasushi Inoue,
winner of the prestigious Akutagawa Prize.
The sign at the entrance, reading “Murasaki-tei,” was handwritten by Inoue himself,
who was later honored with the Cultural Order of Merit and recognized as a Person of Cultural Merit.
④ Embracing Nature on the Engawa

Photography is also possible on the engawa (traditional veranda) of Murasaki-tei.
Feel the tranquility of nature outside as you capture open, airy shots.
Compared to indoor photos, the peacefulness of the garden surroundings brings a mature, refined finish to your photos.
⑤ A Japanese Garden Right Next Door

Beside Murasaki-tei, there’s a beautiful Japanese garden where you can also take photos.
With lush greenery and stunning seasonal scenery,
you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views that will make you forget you’re still in Osaka.
A nearby river adds to the serene, picturesque atmosphere.
