Traditional Japanese photo shoot in Asakusa.

Hello everyone! Today, I’d like to introduce you to a hugely popular photo wedding location in Tokyo, Asakusa! When you think of Asakusa, you might imagine a bustling tourist destination that attracts crowds year-round. It’s a neighborhood where you can still see traces of Japan’s cultural and commercial history, drawing in around 30 million tourists from overseas annually. From the iconic smoke wafting over Senso-ji Temple, believed to have healing properties, to the lively shopping streets perfect for food adventures, Asakusa offers a blend of unfamiliar landscapes and exciting discoveries even for locals!

With its charming old-fashioned streets that make you want to visit at least once in a lifetime, Asakusa is a city that captures the essence of traditional Japan. I’ll be introducing the kinds of photos you can take here one by one, so please stay tuned until the end!

Let’s get started!

① Symbol of Asakusa and a historical landmark! The famous Kaminarimon gate of Senso-ji Temple!

The first photo we’re introducing is one taken in front of the “Kaminarimon” gate at Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa! When you hear “Asakusa,” this is probably the image that comes to mind for many people.

Senso-ji Temple, with over 1300 years of history, features its iconic Kaminarimon gate adorned with red lanterns. Flanking the lanterns are statues of Fujin and Raijin, the gods of wind and thunder, thought to protect Asakusa from disasters. The gate, towering like a three-story building, exudes a solemn and impressive presence!

Known as the literal “gatekeeper” welcoming visitors to Asakusa, the Kaminarimon gate is beloved by many. It’s an absolute must-visit spot for anyone doing a photo shoot in Asakusa, especially as it’s beautifully illuminated at night! Seeing it lit up in the evening presents a different charm compared to daytime.

If you visit after the shops in Nakamise Street have closed, you might even find the gate area less crowded, almost like having it all to yourselves! While the bustling atmosphere of the Kaminarimon during the day is enchanting, capturing it in the serene ambiance of the night could make for truly stunning photos, especially highlighting traditional Japanese attire!

②Experience the essence of Japan at Nakamise Street, the birthplace of Japanese culture!

Next up, let’s introduce the photo spot within Nakamise Street! As the oldest shopping street in Japan, its traditional Japanese atmosphere is so enchanting that locals exclaim “Lovely!” while visitors from abroad find it “Wonderful!” without being able to resist praising its beauty.

With approximately 250 meters of bustling shops, around 90 stores are crammed into this street, presenting a scene rarely seen elsewhere! From shops selling Asakusa delicacies to souvenir stores brimming with Japanese spirit, capturing the charm of Nakamise Street in photographs is a must!

Although the shops close at night, the “Asakusa Emaki” painted on the shutters is highly captivating, offering a different yet equally mesmerizing aspect of Japan. So, experiencing Nakamise Street in the evening is also highly recommended!

③Capture the radiant beauty of traditional Japan alongside the towering vermillion "Five-storied Pagoda" for a heartwarming wedding photo!

Next, let me introduce the majestic “Five-storied Pagoda”! Known as the second tallest in Japan, this pagoda in Asakusa boasts a distinct shape at its pinnacle. Have you noticed its resemblance to something else? In fact, it incorporates a resilient architectural technique called “shinbashira,” which enhances its earthquake resistance. Interestingly, this technique has also been applied to the construction of the Tokyo Skytree! Built for the perpetual memorial of the deceased and to enshrine the remains of Buddha, it serves as a guardian deity of Asakusa’s history.

Even at night, the “Five-storied Pagoda” stands out prominently. Its vivid vermilion color exudes a remarkable presence, leaving an indelible impression that remains etched in memory. Why not capture your special moment against this iconic backdrop for a photo that will never fade?

④ A history longer than that of the "Kaminarimon"?! A charming landscape woven by 300 years of history!!

While the “Kaminarimon” might be the first thing that comes to mind when you hear about Asakusa, did you know that there are other photogenic spots adorned with lanterns in Asakusa?

One such spot is captured in the photo taken at the “Hozomon” gate, visible beyond Nakamise Street! Even if you’ve seen it before, you might have forgotten it amid the overpowering presence of the “Kaminarimon”…

In reality, these lanterns have been displayed here since ancient times, making it the oldest photogenic spot within Sensoji Temple! Originally, these large lanterns were put up to pray for prosperity in business and to demonstrate the spirit of merchants and the Edo populace. Not only impressive but also carrying a history of prosperity, this spot is truly auspicious♪

It’s a perfect spot to celebrate your new beginning together!

⑤ Let's take a little break here...! Introducing some photo shooting items! ☆彡

Here’s a slight deviation from the introduction to “Asakusa” to introduce some cute items for your photoshoot!!

First up is a photo shooting item called a garland with the words “Just Married” written on it! It’s a lovely item that’s perfect for wedding photoshoots, isn’t it? Just imagining the two of you holding it together sparks so many ideas for the shoot! ☻

This photo shooting item is included in the package, so all customers participating in the shoot can use it. Let’s make your photoshoot even more meaningful by using stylish and cute items!

⑥Scenes Drenched in Japanese Essence! Streetscapes Exuding a Kyoto-like Ambiance!

Now, let’s move on to the second half of the photo spots! Next up is a photo shoot in the “streets of Asakusa”!!

Located intersecting with Nakamise Street we introduced earlier, Denboin Street is famous for recreating the streetscape of the Edo period☆彡

The buildings are designed to replicate the architecture of that era, allowing you to capture photos that truly transport you back to the Edo period! It’s rare to experience wearing kimono or traditional Japanese attire amidst the streets of old Edo in our daily lives, making this a truly unique and precious experience♪

With its retro and deep-rooted atmosphere in the old downtown, a photoshoot in traditional Japanese attire here will undoubtedly result in an exceptional outcome that cannot be replicated elsewhere!!

⑦Don't overlook the nature-rich Asakusa! A natural photo imbued with Japanese aesthetics♪

We’ve introduced the charming aspects of the traditional downtown area unique to Asakusa so far! While the picturesque scenes with a Japanese ambiance were captivating, Asakusa’s allure for wedding photoshoots extends beyond just that!! Another charm of Asakusa lies in its strong connection with nature!!

Within a minute’s walk from the station, you’ll find Sumida Park, offering a serene and tranquil space that feels worlds away from the bustling city life! Renowned for its cherry blossoms, fireworks, and autumn foliage, this park allows you to savor the four seasons and offers a perfect setting for natural and authentically Japanese-themed photoshoots. It’s delightful to explore this beautiful aspect of Asakusa, which differs from what we’ve mentioned earlier!

⑧The tallest radio tower in the world! Tokyo's symbol, the "Skytree"!

The 600-meter tower standing near Asakusa, the “Skytree”. Since its construction, it has been the talk of the town, a tower reaching up into the sky that has sparked endless rumors and discussions. Today, it stands as the iconic landmark of Tokyo, beloved not only by tourists but also by locals.

Embedded as a cornerstone of life, encompassing culture, commerce, education, and more, it represents a bustling neighborhood that brims with creativity and vitality. The Skytree symbolizes the city’s technological prowess and bright future, a beacon of innovation that Tokyo proudly presents to the world.

Capturing wedding photos with the Skytree, with its strength and divine presence, promises a bright and clear future ahead!

At night, the “Skytree” is illuminated, enhancing its beauty even further! The steel framework, appearing like floating gold leaf, exudes elegance and adds a dazzling touch to the photos! The illumination colors include a sophisticated “purple”, a warm “light blue” reminiscent of the downtown charm, and a vibrant “orange”, with details available on the official website. Why not capture your wedding photos with your preferred illumination setting?

How about capturing romantic wedding photos against the backdrop of the fantastical “Skytree” glowing in the night sky?

⑨ Capture your unique essence by the "Sumida River," which has long supported the downtown culture!

Finally, let’s introduce the dating photo spot along the Sumida River!

The culture and scenery of Asakusa, carried by water and light. Gazing at the serene landscape, one feels a sense of peacefulness, as if the soul is being cleansed. ☻

Wearing unfamiliar outfits and enduring an unfamiliar photoshoot might be tiring at times, but when you see the scenery of the Sumida River, all pretenses fade away. You can capture the pure essence of your everyday selves, without any need for pretense!

Because of its simplicity and abundance in everyday life, you can capture the unique flavor of your marriage photos that only you can bring out.
