Now, this time we would like to introduce “Motomachi Park,” a lush green park in the Yamate area of Yokohama, and “Berrick Hall,” built in 1930 (Showa 5) as the residence of British trader B.R. Berrick! “Berrick Hall,” standing on approximately 600 tsubo (about 1983 square meters) of land, is a Western-style building designated as a Yokohama City Certified Historic Building.

It’s a spot where you can enjoy a wide variety of photo opportunities, including the exterior, interior, and garden.

When you think of location photography, you might imagine outdoor shoots, but this facility also allows indoor photography,

so you can shoot with peace of mind even in the cold winter (^^)

The living room on the first floor is a spacious 47 tatami mats (about 77 square meters) with a ceiling height of approximately 4 meters.

There are arched openings on the south and north sides, making it a bright and glamorous room filled with natural light.

Inside, there is a stone fireplace with carvings of floral patterns.

2. Piano Shots

The living room is a relaxing space loved not only by tourists but also by locals, and it is used for BGM performances and as a concert venue.

You can actually play the piano that is set up ♬ A shot capturing beautiful music.

This is an impressive guest bedroom with a charming quatrefoil (four-leaf shape) small window, a traditional European style, and walls unified in blue.

The third Western-style building is “Yamate 234 House.”

Designed by Yoshizo Asaka, it was built around 1927 as an apartment house for foreigners and is one of the few remaining structures in Yokohama.

It was part of a reconstruction project undertaken with the hope that foreigners who left Yamate due to the Great Kanto Earthquake would return.

The apartments were rationally and compactly designed so that various people could use them in diverse ways.

“Yamate 234 House” is one of Yokohama City’s Certified Historic Buildings.
