Heisei Garden is located next to Gyosen Park in Edogawa-ku.
As its name suggests, this is a relatively new Japanese garden created in the Heisei era, and it is considered a representative example of post-Showa urban-style gardens.

Encircling the large central pond, the lush greenery offers seasonal beauty that you can enjoy up close. Koi fish and ducks swim gracefully in the water, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

At the heart of the garden lies a pond, surrounded by paths designed for strolling.
The charm of a strolling garden is in experiencing the changing scenery as you walk along its paths.
Teahouses, bridges, and stone arrangements are placed throughout, creating unique views at every spot.
Looking toward the pond, seasonal flowers and trees reflect beautifully on the water’s surface.

You can also take photos in front of the traditional Japanese dry landscape garden, karesansui, which represents mountains and water using rocks and sand instead of actual water.
Although simple, it carries depth and serenity that naturally calms the heart.
Its expression changes with the light and the seasons, allowing for different moods depending on when you visit.
Karesansui truly embodies the Japanese sense of beauty.

One of the perfect backdrops for traditional attire is a bamboo grove.
This tranquil space conveys both silence and vitality, harmonizing beautifully with kimono.
Whether in white shiromuku or colorful iro-uchikake, traditional attire stands out vividly against the fresh green of bamboo, highlighting the bride and groom naturally.

In Heisei Garden, different flowers bloom with each season, transforming the garden’s atmosphere throughout the year.

• Spring: Yoshino cherry blossoms, weeping cherry trees, azaleas, and plum blossoms brighten the garden with fresh colors.

• Summer: Hydrangeas and irises bloom vibrantly, creating colorful scenes even in the gentle rain of the rainy season.

• Autumn: Maples and ginkgo trees turn brilliant red and yellow, reflecting beautifully in the pond and creating a breathtaking view.

• Winter: Camellias bloom, adding a subtle charm to the serene winter garden.

The Japanese-style Tsukimidai (Moon-viewing Pavilion), which extends over the pond, creates the illusion of floating on the water.

Heisei Garden features a teahouse called Genshin-an, perfect for the ever-popular “seiza shot” in traditional attire.

There are many variations of this pose—sitting formally face forward, bowing gently, or gazing at each other while seated.

The engawa (veranda), a hallmark of Japanese architecture, adds warmth and nostalgia to your photos.
