Rain on Your Wedding Photo Day in Japan? Here’s Our Rainy Day Policy.

Rescheduling Rules

If you decide you’d like to reschedule to a different day for your outdoor location shoot, we’re happy to accommodate that. Here’s what you need to know to make the process as smooth as possible.

📝 When to contact us
You can request a change from 2 days before your shoot, up until 12:00 noon the day before.

Please note that contacting us by phone may not be possible due to language barriers, as an interpreter may not be available at the studio. We kindly ask that you send your request by email instead.

📧 info@weddingphoto-japan.com

Please use the subject line: (〇/〇 name, Rain Postponement Request)
In the body of your email, please include 2–3 alternative dates you would prefer for your rescheduled shoot.

The same rainy day policy applies at all of our studios across Japan. Whether you’re planning your pre-wedding photoshoot in Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya, or any other location, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

We will reply to your email by 20:00 Japan time on the same day. Please be aware that if we are unable to arrange your requested alternative dates, we may need to proceed with a studio shoot on your original scheduled date instead.

⚠️ Important: Sending a reschedule request does not confirm a change. Please continue to prepare for your shoot on the original date as planned, and treat any change as a possibility rather than a certainty until you receive our confirmation email.

📆 Available rescheduling window
We will check availability as soon as possible and offer you the nearest available date within your remaining stay. This is why we recommend setting your original shoot date earlier in your trip — it gives us more flexibility to find an alternative date if needed.

👕 Outfit and hair & makeup appointments adjusted together
When rescheduling, we’ll also update your outfit and hair & makeup bookings at the same time. You won’t need to chase multiple contacts — our staff handles everything together on your behalf.

Are There Any Extra Charges?

One of the things couples worry most about is whether extra fees apply. This is an important point, so let us be clear and thorough.

No extra charge in these cases

  • Switching to studio shooting due to weather on the day
  • Rescheduling before 12:00 noon the day before (available as many times as needed)
  • Continuing with the shoot in light rain
⚠️ Cases where charges may apply

  • Changes or cancellations after 12:00 noon the day before (cancellation fee applies)
  • Cases where new outfit arrangements are required

Also, if you switch from a location plan to a studio plan, any difference in price will be refunded to you. You will never be charged more than your original plan — so please feel reassured.

⚠️ Deadline reminder
Changes and rescheduling are free of charge when made from 2 days before your shoot up until 12:00 noon the day before. Any changes or cancellations after this point will incur a cancellation fee.

Our full rainy day policy is explained in detail at the time of your booking. If you have any questions beforehand, please don’t hesitate to ask our staff. You can also check our FAQ page here.

When and How We Assess the Weather

“So when exactly do you decide whether it’s raining or not?” — here’s exactly how the process works.

Checking weather forecast before pre-wedding shoot

📅 A few days before
Keep an eye on the weather forecast. If you see rain in the forecast, reach out to our staff for advice.

📅 The day before
We’ll look at the forecast together and discuss your options — studio switch or reschedule — if needed. Please contact us by 12:00 noon at the latest.

📅 On the day
We make the final call based on actual conditions on the ground. When you arrive at the studio, our staff will discuss the best approach with you and decide together.

Tips for Booking During Rainy or Typhoon Season

If you’re visiting Japan during the rainy season (June–July) or typhoon season (late summer to autumn), here are three tips to keep in mind when making your booking.

Pre-wedding shoot during Japan's rainy season

① Book your shoot early in your stay
Setting your shoot date towards the beginning of your trip gives us more room to offer an alternative date if we need to reschedule. It’s one of the most effective ways to protect your plans.

② Keep the “noon the day before” deadline in mind
Rescheduling is available from 2 days before your shoot. Watch the forecast and get in touch early if you’re concerned.
