What Is Jogashima?
Jogashima is a small island in Miura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, connected to the mainland by a bridge. On the eastern side of the island, Jogashima Park stretches along the coast, with rocky shores, small beaches, pine forests and grassy slopes facing the open sea.
With no tall buildings around, the sky and ocean seem to go on forever. Within one island you will find rock formations shaped by the waves, flat rocks reaching out into the sea, tree-lined paths that feel like tunnels, and wide fields of pampas grass. Few locations in the Tokyo area offer this much variety in natural scenery.

The island is about two hours by car from central Tokyo. That journey is part of the experience: the day can feel like a small trip together as well as a photoshoot.
Why Jogashima Is Perfect for Wedding Photos
Jogashima lets you take photos that look like they were shot at an overseas resort, without leaving Japan. Open ocean views, dramatic rocks, soft green forest and glowing sunsets all fit into a single session, so your album will have a wide range of moods.
✨ Highlights of Jogashima
・Ocean, sky, rocks and greenery all on one island
・Umanose Domon, a natural rock arch you will not find anywhere else
・A two-hour session that can be timed for sunset
・Seasonal flowers and silver pampas grass
・No location permit fee
Our Jogashima sessions last two hours, longer than most of our city locations, so you can explore several spots at a relaxed pace and still catch the sunset.
Umanose Domon: The Natural Rock Arch
The most famous spot on Jogashima is Umanose Domon, a large rock arch formed over many years by the waves. Its name comes from the top of the arch, which is said to look like a horse’s back. There is even a local saying that if you see Mount Fuji through the arch, good luck will follow.
Standing beneath the arch with the sea and sky framed behind you makes a striking, unforgettable image. The rough texture of the rock contrasts beautifully with the soft white of a wedding dress. The ground around the arch is rocky, so our staff will guide you to safe spots and help with your dress as you move.

The Rocky Coastline and Big Skies
Along the coast, flat rocks reach out toward the sea. With the horizon in front of you and a huge sky above, photos taken from a distance, with the two of you small against the landscape, capture the full scale of nature.
When the tide goes out, pools of seawater form in the rocks and sometimes reflect the sky and your silhouettes, creating mirror-like images that change with the color of the sky. The sea breeze is also part of the magic here: your dress and veil may lift and flow, giving natural movement to your photos.

Green Tunnels, Pine Forest and Pampas Grass
Jogashima is not only about the sea. Inside the park, paths run through tunnels of trees where sunlight filters softly through the leaves. Standing together in the green tunnel gives a gentle, natural mood that is completely different from the coast.

The pine forest is another favorite: tall, straight trunks with light falling between them create a calm, quiet backdrop for walking hand in hand. From autumn into winter, fields of pampas grass glow silver in the light and sway in the wind, a romantic setting for sitting close together or for shots taken through the grass.

Sunset and After Dark
With nothing blocking the view, Jogashima is one of the best places near Tokyo for sunset wedding photos. Because the session lasts two hours, we can plan your schedule around the time of sunset on your shoot day.

As the sun goes down, the sky changes from gold to orange to pink in a matter of minutes. Silhouettes against the glowing sky turn your outlines and the shape of the dress into the focus of the photo. After sunset, the sky fades into deep blue, and on some evenings the moon rises over the sea for a quiet, dreamy finish to the day.

Poses and Props Couples Love
You do not need any posing experience. Your photographer knows the island well and will suggest poses that suit the light and wind at each spot, while our hair and makeup artist keeps your look neat even on breezy days.
📷 Ideas for your Jogashima shoot
・Recreate your proposal with the ocean behind you
・Matching sunglasses for a playful resort vibe
・A princess carry on the rocks
・Walking hand in hand through the green tunnel
・Garlands, childhood photo frames or your own props

You are welcome to bring your own bouquet and props. Dried-flower bouquets and natural hair accessories suit the island’s scenery especially well.
Choosing Your Dress for the Coast
Light fabrics like tulle and chiffon catch the sea breeze beautifully, while sleek, simple silhouettes look elegant against the big sky and are easy to manage on the rocks. A long veil can create stunning shots as it lifts in the wind. For grooms, earth-tone suits in brown, beige or olive blend naturally with the rocks, grass and pine trees, while navy or black looks sharp against the blue sea.

Because the ground is rocky, you will change into sneakers or other comfortable shoes while moving between spots, and switch back for the photos. Bringing two pairs of shoes makes the day much easier.
